Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, who sees it, and the choices you have.
Last updated: [date]
1. Who we are
Yours Honestly is run by [Legal entity name], [registered address] (“we”, “us”). We decide how your personal data is used, so under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 we are the “data fiduciary” for it. This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and the choices you have.
2. What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and mobile number.
- Your questionnaire answers: every answer you give, including answers about relationships, intimacy, your past, your health, your childhood, your family, money and faith.
- Birth details, for astrology: date, time and place of birth.
- What we create from your answers: your portrait, personality type, safety finding, family and partner biodatas, and compatibility reports.
- Code activity: your YH code, and a record of who used it and when.
- Payment records: your subscription status and payment history. Razorpay handles your card, UPI or bank details; we don’t store your full card number.
- Contact preferences: whether you’ve opted in to WhatsApp.
- Website forms: what you send us through an evaluation request, a partner enquiry or a grievance.
- Technical data: basic device, browser and log data needed to run and secure the service. [Confirm and list any analytics or cookies you use.]
Your chats with our AI are kept on your own device, encrypted with a key made there. We don’t store them on our servers. [Confirm this matches the live app.]
3. Why we use it
- To create your account and run your membership.
- To assess your answers and verify your profile.
- To produce your portrait, personality type, biodatas and astrology reading.
- To produce a compatibility report when someone you’ve given your code to asks for one, and when you ask for one.
- To answer questions in the AI chat, using only verified profile information and our findings, never anyone’s private answers.
- To take payments and keep the records the law requires.
- To send you updates by email, and by WhatsApp if you opt in.
- To deliver an expert evaluation you’ve booked.
- To keep the service safe, prevent fake or duplicate profiles, and meet our legal obligations.
We don’t sell your personal data, and we don’t use your answers for advertising.
4. AI and our team
Our AI reads your answers and drafts an assessment. Our team then reviews the result before your profile is marked “Verified, Yours Honestly”. Verification is a review of your own answers. It is not a background check, a criminal-record check or a medical or psychological diagnosis. [Name the AI providers you use, or say “trusted AI service providers bound by contract”.]
5. Who can see what
| Who | What they can see |
|---|---|
| You | Everything in your profile, your reports, and who has used your code. |
| Our verification team | Your answers and profile, only as needed to verify it and support you. Every staff action is logged. |
| Someone you give your YH code to | Your approved portrait, biodatas, personality type, safety finding and your compatibility report with them. Never your private answers. |
| A partner bureau or platform you give your code to | Your compatibility report with the other member. Never your chats, private answers or contact details. |
| A psychologist or astrologer you book | The compatibility report or birth details needed for the evaluation you asked for. |
Your code is permanent, so share it only with people you’re seriously considering. You’re told every time it’s used.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal data only with service providers who help us run Yours Honestly, under contracts that limit what they can do with it:
- Razorpay, for payments and autopay
- Hosting and database providers [name]
- AI service providers [name]
- Email and WhatsApp messaging providers [name]
- The psychologists and astrologers who deliver evaluations you book
We may also disclose data when the law requires it, for example to a court or a government authority acting lawfully.
7. Your consent
We use your personal data on the basis of the consent you give when you join, and when you send us a form. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your profile in your dashboard or by writing to our Grievance Officer. Once you withdraw it, we stop using your data and delete it as described below. Withdrawing doesn’t affect anything we did lawfully before.
WhatsApp messages are opt-in. You can turn them off at any time.
8. Your rights
- Know what we hold: ask for a summary of your personal data and how we use it.
- Correct and update: you can update your account details at any time. Questionnaire answers lock once you submit them, so to change them you would delete your profile and join again with a new email. If you think something in your verified profile is inaccurate, write to us and we’ll review it.
- Erase: delete your profile, or ask us to.
- Complain: raise a grievance with us, and with the Data Protection Board of India if you’re not satisfied with our answer.
- Nominate: name someone who can exercise these rights for you if you die or can’t act yourself.
To use any of these rights, write to our Grievance Officer (see Contact and grievances).
9. How long we keep it
- While you’re a member: we keep your profile so it stays verified and shareable. If a payment fails or you cancel, your profile is kept so you can come back.
- When you delete your profile: we delete your answers and profile within [X] days.
- What we keep after deletion: payment and tax records for as long as the law requires, and access logs for at least one year. [Confirm whether you keep the email address after deletion, so it can’t be reused to join again, and say so here.]
- Inactive accounts: if an account has been inactive for [period], we’ll tell you at least 48 hours before we delete it.
10. How we protect it
Your data is stored against your own account and access is limited to you and our verification team. Chats stay encrypted on your device. Profile and report PDFs are password-locked, and every staff action is logged. If a breach ever affects your data, we’ll tell you without delay by email (and WhatsApp if you’ve opted in), explaining what happened, what it means for you and what we’re doing about it, and we’ll inform the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
11. Age
Yours Honestly is only for adults aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think a child has joined, write to us and we’ll delete the account.
12. Where it’s stored
Your data is stored in [India / name the country]. If any of our providers process it outside India, we do so only as Indian law allows.
13. Questions and complaints
Our Grievance Officer handles privacy questions and complaints. Their details, and how quickly we respond, are on the Contact and grievances page.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you by email before it takes effect, and where the law requires it, ask for your consent again.
